Calling all Gardeners! We are looking for passionate individuals who love being in the great outdoors to join our volunteer Nature Team and help us make a difference in the local community.
With spring here, we have some exciting roles for you to get involved with, to help us restore landscapes and improve the wildlife and environment.
Based within our Charterhouse Heritage Park, this area encompasses around 70 aces of land that forms a green corridor throughout the city. It is an essential green space for nature, home to a diverse range of wildlife and habitats. Including Charterhouse, London Road Cemetery and the River Sherbourne, this space is in desperate need of restoration. Our vision is to restore this rich landscape to its natural beauty whilst retaining its inherent wild nature, creating a safe space for everyone to access and enjoy.
We have two main outdoor roles available for you to get involved with and make a difference:
- Garden volunteers will help us to maintain the Charterhouse walled garden, with responsibilities ranging from planting to pruning.
- Heritage Park volunteers will help us in the wider landscape including the woodland and river areas, helping us clear and manage these unique areas.
As a result of the global pandemic, we have placed an emphasis on outdoor volunteering to help welcome volunteers back into the landscape quicker and safer.
Volunteers health and safety is our top priority for everyone here at Historic Coventry Trust, and by focusing our volunteering effort on the great outdoors we can ensure social distancing measures are in place alongside other government guidelines for the benefit of everyone.
There are so many reasons why you should join our volunteer Nature Team and help us restore this integral green landscape. You will have the opportunity to meet likeminded people and be part of a dedicated diverse team. By volunteering for our Nature Team, you will learn and develop a wide range of skills whilst doing something that matters, and have the chance to re-connect with nature and everything it has to offer.
If this is something you are interested in getting involved with and volunteering we would love to hear from you! Fill out our volunteer interest form today.
And every Friday from 23 April to 2 July 2021 we will be working with The Pod to kick start our community allotment spaces within Charterhouse Gardens. Find out more here: https://old.historiccoventrytrust.org.uk/planning-a-kitchen-garden-with-the-pod/
Historic Coventry Trust are delighted to also be working in partnership with Coventry City of Culture Trust, who also have some exciting opportunities for volunteers to get involved and help their city. Whether you’ve been here for years, or just arrived and you’re learning the lay of the land, you can help visitors by becoming a volunteer to be the face of our city.
