City Gates project, May 2020

News  |

Historic Coventry Trust have been hard at work on the ambitious project to breathe new life into the Swanswell and Cook Street gates. With funding and support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Coventry City Council, Historic Coventry Trust will bring the special buildings back into use. The conversion of the Grade I listed sites into unique visitor accommodation will be an opportunity to showcase Coventry’s hidden heritage, and help grow tourism in the city. They will also be accessible on Open Days.

The current coronavirus restrictions have delayed proceedings, but having completed the initial assessment and design phases, plans are now in place to begin construction on the gates within the coming months. Please check back onto this news page, sign up to our mailing list and make sure to follow the trust’s social media platforms for more updates as the project progresses.
