A fun poetry workshop - making fruit shaped poems - or leaves or angels, whatever takes your fancy.

We'll merge words with pictures to create some fabulously unique food themed poems. In this relaxed session, you can let your imagination run wild as we create awesome poems that look amazing too! Suitable for all ages and abilities.

Part of our Joseph Paxton Memorial Day to mark his contribution to Coventry. Paxton designed London Road Cemetery. He is also credited with inventing the Cavendish banana –  we’ll merge words with pictures to create some fabulously unique food themed poems. In this relaxed session, you can let your imagination run wild as we create awesome poems that look amazing too! Suitable for all ages and abilities. The event will take place in the Anglican Chapel, London Road Cemetery as part of our Joseph Paxton Memorial Day.

We will also have a trail of the cemetery to do after the workshop.

Practical information

For all ages. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Emilie Lauren Jones was Coventry’s first Poet Laureate. Her words have featured on local and national radio and television. She enjoys visiting schools, care homes, community groups (and anywhere else!) to share her love of words. Her first book of children’s poetry ‘A Poetic A-Z of Awesome Animals’ was released by Caboodle Books in October 2023.

Anglican Chapel, London Road Cemetery, CV1 2JT

Visitors arriving by car should park in the Charterhouse car park (London Road, Coventry CV1 2JR) and enter the cemetery through the carriageway entrance, then turn right and look left to locate the Anglican Chapel.
