Earthcycle

Thurs 09 March 2023 | Doors 6:30pm

Orchestra of the Swan return to Drapers' Hall for 'Earthcycle'.

Earthcycle contemplates humanity’s impact on Earth’s environment and the disruption of its natural rhythms. Vivaldi’s pioneering quartet of programmatic concerti, written almost 300 years ago, is performed alongside a newly commissioned version by baroque/jazz musician and composer David Gordon and interspersed with traditional folk songs related to the theme of the seasons.

Enhanced by discreet lighting and specially created contextual footage Earthcycle highlights the C21st greatest concern whilst celebrating nature and our place within it.

Programme:
Trad. Jackie Oates arr. Le Page The Birds in the Spring
David Gordon Windigo
Vivaldi La primavera
Trad. Jackie Oates arr. Le Page The Lark in the Morning
David Gordon The Elephant and the Moth
Vivaldi L'estate
Trad. Jackie Oates arr. Le Page Bright Phoebus
David Gordon Feeling the Chill
Vivaldi L'autumno
